Something a little different

Something a little different from me. I fancied having a doodle and working with pencil again. I think I will try to recreate this image using just ink next and make the block colour more definate.

GIBBONS!

This is a page from a book that unfortunatly didn't happen. It was fun drawing these cheeky gibbons, maybe more from these cheeky chappys!

Birthday Cards

I was given a breif to create some cards with a link. I created two designs with the aim to create more in the future to add to the range. It was really nice to have quite a free breif and draw some animals in hats of course!
Quick note: the background is actually white but coming up grey for some reason.

Weekend fun

It has been a lovely weekend. We started work on the free G-plan we found by sanding it down. Working out what to do with it next. Then off the beach with my parents and the dog in the lovely sunshine.
Today on the other hand was not so lovely. I couldn't get to the train station platform because it was flooded. So much water! Found this picture taken this morning and posted online. The water managed to reach the top of the metro stands (the blue thing behind the man). Crazy weather.

Vary Rainy Pavements

Back in Feb I went to Venice for a couple of days with my lovely man friend. It rained constantly! But it was still lovely to walk around and get lost in the little streets.

Bens Birthday Book

Hello to you all, and I hope your weather has been as nice as it is here, if a little windy.
A little while ago I was asked by an old school friend to create a birthday book for her nephew Ben. She wanted the book to be about him and his family, a keep sake.
She wrote the story with her family and I illustrated the pages along side, bound the book and sent it off.
The last image is Ben reading his book, its great to see something coming to life and the audience it is intended for enjoying it.

Lotions and Potions!

Shop window display number two. Created with old pharmacy bottles found in the sister chemist shop's attic. I spent a whole day cleaning off the bottles and the lovely old wooden cabinet. They are all original bottles some with the medicine still inside!
For the other bottles and jars I filled with food colouring and water, some with salt and a few with mint imperials to look like tablets.
I needed to leave room on either side for other decorations like Christmas trees as they didn't want to keep taking things in and out.
Its not completely finished yet but I'm pleased with how it is now and as it changes I will post photos. It was a completely bare window before and the amount of people that have stopped and really looked at the things in the window and come in and say that they like it makes my day : )

Handmade Holly has recently turned into a bit of a photo blog, but some more illustrations on the way to you soon along with some crafty christmas bits. The lovely lady in the photograph is Faye Carrick, you can see some of her crafty bits and bobs here
